Hour of Code with VEX Robotics

In the Coral Reef Cleanup activity, students are equipped with a VR Ocean Cleaning Robot to help clean the Mangrove Reef. They need to collect as much trash as they can before the solar-powered batteries on their robot run down.

There are 3 challenge levels, each level will complete the same activity, but the instructions are tailored to student's experience. Each level of the activity has a matching tutorial video in VEXcode VR that explains how to use the software, and is connected to an example project to help students get started.

To best tailor the Coral Reef Cleanup activity to a classroom, a Facilitation Guide and additional resources are provided. The Facilitation Guide walks you through how to start the activity with your students including a list of the materials, strategies for supporting students as they complete the activity, and how to conclude the activity when students have finished to celebrate their success!

A Cross-Curricular Guide provides ideas on how to make the connection between the Coral Reef Cleanup activity and specific subject areas including Math, Science, Language Arts, and Geography.

The knowledge students gain in VEXcode VR can be applied to other VEX platforms - VEXcode GO, VEXcode IQ, and VEXcode V5!
